I've known these two beautiful humans since Kindergarten and I truly don't know what I would do without them. They have the kindest hearts and they're so easy to get along with. Anytime we're together, we can be doing absolutely anything, whether it be seeing a movie, exploring different parts of Edmonton or just hanging at each others houses, we find a way to make it fun. Our senses of humour are super similar and I'm never not smiling or laughing when I'm around them. They go Ainlay, along with the rest of my friends and I miss them all quite a bit. I hope to get in for next year!
This video makes me feel so much bigger than I am. I'm not religious, but if I were ever to explain what I believe in, what is said in this video and what it makes me feel describes my spirituality perfectly. To quote Neil, "I look up, many people feel small because they’re small and the Universe is big, but I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars. There’s a level of connectivity."
I want to explore different parts of the world that I haven't seen yet. I've only ever flown to Ottawa and Kurdistan and driven to different parts of Alberta but there's SO much more out there that I have yet to explore. When I'm older and have the means to travel throughout the world, it'll be my top priority. Traveling is on most everybody's bucket list and it's just so fulfilling and good for your soul!
These gals were the highlight of my Grade 9 year. I wouldn't have had as much fun as I did if they hadn't been in my homeroom. I miss them with all my heart and I constantly feel nostalgic for all the laughs we had together in class. Again, I hope I get into Ainlay next year so I can reconnect with them and graduate alongside them as I did in junior high.
These are two of my favourite artists: Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean. I have gotten really into both their music in the past few months and now I physically can't make a playlist that doesn't include some of their songs. I adore them for their music and the amount of passion and effort they put into what they do. We need more people like them. Other artists/bands that I listen to are Brockhampton, Lorde, The Neighbourhood, SZA, and Willow Smith. Music can really get you through a lot and I'm grateful for all the good music out there.
This is my favourite tv show of all time. I started watching it with my oldest brother years ago and it's been something that we've always bonded over and watched together. It's so well made and the writing and acting are amazing! My other favourite shows are Veronica Mars, Freaks and Geeks, Friends, Stranger Things, Shameless, Black Mirror, OITNB, Hannibal, Parks and Recreation, and Big Brother (more of a guilty pleasure haha!) I love getting lost in the storyline of a show; it gives you a whole other world to live in for a little while :)
This is my cousin, Daniel. I adore this kid!!! He's wise beyond his years and he's insanely sweet and funny. He lives in Ottawa so I don't get to see him very often but I always look forward to the summers every few years where I visit him along with my other cousins that live in Ontario.
I grew up watching this movie and it was a huge part of my childhood. I can still quote a majority of the scenes and it's the movie I turn to when I'm sick or not feeling well. It makes me nostalgic but it also cheers me up ;') Jim Carrey is also one of my favourite actors/people in general. I also love him Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show. Some of my other favourite movies are The Goonies, The Usual Suspects, Interstellar, Little Miss Sunshine, Where The Wild Things Are, Wayne's World, Hidden Figures, and Before We Go.
Yellow has been my favourite colour for the past year or two. It's such a happy and warm colour. I'm glad that recently it's been becoming more popular because it genuinely suits everyone and there's just something about it that really brightens my mood. Live life in yellow.
It's tradition that whenever my friends and I go to the movies, we go to Indigo right afterwards to get Starbucks and find funny books or look through the other cute little things they sell there. We always do it (unless we catch a later movie and it's closed). I've made so many memories in there and I genuinely always love walking in. I need to get back into reading as well and I always get inspired when I look through the books Indigo has.
I know too many girls my age who have been sexually assaulted or harassed. It's heartbreaking and I truly don't think there is enough being done about it. It's important to show up at your local events and actively do something to fight against injustices going on around you.
I have no idea what I as a career/what I want to do after highschool. It's scary but at the same time I know that I'll eventually figure out what I'm passionate enough about to pursue. For now though, I'm keeping my options open and trying new things to help me figure out my plan. I think this quote sums up how I'm feeling because now and even further in the future I may wander from idea to idea of what I want to pursue, but that doesn't mean I'm lost and I know that one day I will figure it all out.
