"The primary motive of British imperialism in China in the nineteenth century was economic. There was a high demand for Chinese tea, silk and porcelain in the British market." In this article it explains how British took over there lands due to the economic basis, and fought which caused WWI. This reminds me of Avatar because, the Marines thought they had the power, and the Na'vi people didn't let themselves fail anymore and helped each other out as a nation.
Jake Sully had a twin brother who got killed due too being a marine. Jake sully decides to go to Pandora to fill in for his brother since they have the same dna. Pandora was a forest , "planet" of the Na'vi people. Colonel Miles Quaritch was the leader of the military force and has a personal hatred for the Na'vi people. Jake goes into this avatar body and goes into Pandora to see how the Na'vis live there lives. As time passed he started learning many things from the Na'vi people and started changing physically and emotionally which caused Colonel Quaritch to get angry at him. Colonel decides to bomb there planet and they end up having a war. Which is comparable to how Europeans would take power of Africa , India etc.
The British wealth grew and had the power against India. Basically what happened was that during 1450- 1750 "India was left to the victorious party between the British and French, decided to some degree during the Seven Years War, one front being in India itself (The other two being North America and Europe)." England took time to establish being the "leader" of the Indian Ocean meaning the company grew an army and now Indians were working for the British.
In this article it's basically informing you that between the 1870s and 1900, Africa faced European imperialist aggression. However by the twenty century Africa had been colonized by the the power of the European people. The article says "Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy,Portugal, and Spain were competing for power within European power politics. One way to demonstrate national preeminence was through the acquisition of territories around the world, including Africa."
