Check out these Teaching & Learning Discussion Strategies!

The Teaching & Learning Group has been sharing and exploring effective instructional strategies. Check out this link to view some of them. You might find something inspiring to try with your students! We've found much success with "Info Exchange" and "This or That". 5th grade used “This or That” to nurture classroom culture and make meaningful connections with one another and the 6th grade used the “Info Exchange” to prepare for a Social Studies vocabulary assessment. Both are super fun for students and teachers!

Ignite Classroom Discussion with FlipGrid!

FlipGrid has been an incredible tool to engage students- and they LOVE it! The Upper School World Language teachers have asked students to record videos to practice oral language, 5th & 6th grade Language Arts teachers have used it as a storytelling tool, and Science students have used it to share connections they have to scientists. There are innumerable ways to use FlipGrid for all grade levels and subjects! We have a school account, so let me know if you want to give it a try! I'm happy to set it up with you.

Sutori & Adobe Spark are online design sites. They are easy to use and a fun, engaging way to create visual stories. 6th grade students (and teachers!) have used both Sutori and Spark Pages to bring their Social Studies and Language Arts projects to life. Bonus: Sutori is collaborative!

Padlet is the easiest way to create and collaborate in the world!

If you know me, you know I ❤️️Padlet. There are infinite ways to use it with your students! Padlet is a free application to create an online bulletin board that you can use to display information for any topic. You can add images, links, videos, projects and more. Language Arts & Social Studies teachers have used it to collect projects from different platforms; this way, all projects are in one place and students can view and comment on each others’ work!

What Teaching Has Taught Us...

This "What Teaching Has Taught Us" slide deck was a collaborative effort created by the Teaching & Learning cohort. They found beautiful (free!) images on Unsplash to bring their sentiments to life. The collaborative Google Slide deck is always a win. 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grade students have been using Google Slides and Unsplash to collaboratively design and present on numerous topics. Give it a try. It's awesome!
