Mexico group opens Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- President Luis Abinader on Thur. led the opening ceremony of the Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana hotel, for adults only, the first property in the country of the leading hotel operator in Mexico, Grupo Posadas. During ribbon-cutting, the president was accompanied by Tourism Minister, David Collado; and the main executives of Grupo Posadas and the all-inclusive resort in Uvero Alto. José Carlos Azcárraga, General Director of Grupo Posadas, thanked the support they have received from the Dominican Government to develop the project. “President Luis Abinader valued that Live will not only boost local tourism, but will also contribute positively to the economy and development of the region.”
A New Adults-Only Resort Is Open in Punta Cana Caribbean Journal
The newest adults-only resort in the Dominican Republic has held its grand opening in Punta Cana, Caribbean Journal has learned.
Hotel giant wants in on Bahia de las Aguilas
Santo Domingo.- Craig Smith, president of the Marriott Group, International Division, said in an interview with Diario Libre that the hotel company is interested in various plans to develop several areas of the country, including Samaná and Pedernales. “If we see the plan and have confidence, we like to be the first to take advantage, and our entire team has said that it will be a success,” said Smith, referring to the public-private project in the country’s Southwest, whose main attraction is Bahia de las Aguilas. The hotel group has 10 facilities in the Dominican Republic and 13 more that will complete in two or three years, as well as other contracts that are still under negotiation and have not been announced.

The electronic passport will be a reality in Dominican airports in 2022
THIS WAS REPORTED BY NÉSTOR JULIO CRUZ, DIRECTOR OF THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF PASSPORTS For the 2022 budget, the probabilities of including the General Directorate of Passports ( DGP ) are contemplated to replace traditional travel documents, converting them into electronic passports for more agility in the entry and exit of airports. This was reported by the director of the entity, Néstor Julio Cruz, who stressed that the Dominican Republic belongs to the 193 members of the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO ) that regulates everything concerning air traffic and passport offices. He explained that at least 135 member countries already have an electronic passport.
