Dominican Republic captures nearly half of the foreign direct investment made in the Caribbean
The Dominican Republic continues to be the first destination country for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Caribbean, since in 2019 it captured 47% of the investments made in the region, according to the most recent report “Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean” published last December by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). That year, FDI inflows to the Caribbean totaled US$6,467 million, representing a 20.3% growth over 2018. According to the publication, this increase was influenced mainly by the entry of investments into Dominican territory. Pro-Pedernales Trust is ready to build 10,000 rooms in Pedernales
FIDUCIARIA RESERVAS AND THE DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS SIGNED THE INITIATIVE It is also contemplated to build an airport to attract tourism. Projects will promote job creation in the South region. Fiduciaria Reservas and the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships ( DGAPP ) launched the Pro-Pedernales Trust. This initiative will regulate and promote investments and service infrastructures that show potential to influence that province’s tourist and economic development. Serenade Caribbean Hotels Enters Dominican Republic
Serenade Caribbean Hotels finally arrived in the Dominican Republic with the soft opening of the all-inclusive Serenade Punta Cana Beach, Spa & Casino Resort. The newly-constructed, 603-suite resort, set on Playa Cabeza de Toro in Punta Cana, is offering all-inclusive rates starting from $206 per person, per night, based on double occupancy in a Luscious Tropical Garden View suite, for stays through Feb. 28, 2020.
Tourism and Health promise free tests for tourists
Collado announced that tourists arriving in the country would have free trials as part of the facilities to recover the tourism industry. Santo Domingo, DR The Tourism Cabinet announced that the Ministry of Health would donate 400,000 Covid-19 antigen tests to all hotels, to be applied to tourists who have vacationed in those areas and who require PCR to return to their countries of origin. “Today gives us the guarantees that the Dominican government, via the Tourism Cabinet, will have the capacity to respond to the new requirements that the United States, Canada, and other countries have imposed.
