PARAGRAPH #1: In this article, an Arabic woman believes she has missed her flight. She is on the ground crying because she believes she has missed it. Since no one thinks they can help her because that's not the language they speak they continue to walk by her. On the other hand, would this situation be different if this woman didn't speak the Arabic language? It might have because then people can talk to her. This makes her feel other because no one is helping her. Although then someone told an airline staff which then he said to a loudspeaker whoever can speak the Arabic language come to this gate. A man who spoke that language went and helped her. She believed that her flight was canceled but it was only delayed. She was othered because no one was helping her but then she was helped because the airline staff talked on the loudspeaker and that man helped her. PARAGRAPH #2This connects to the story TKAM because if people are different other people avoid them. People who were rich would never talk to the poor. Or if you were a different color than you wouldn't talk to the other color. In the end, people really came all together and forgot about avoiding other different people and helped each other. Like Boo Radley when he saved the children he was considered weird and people stayed away, but then he helped the children. this is what happened in the article.
PARAGRAPH #1: In the early 20th century, there was an influx of immigration to the United States. The Quota Act of 1921 and the Act of 1924 prohibited the number of immigrants allowed into the country. They decided for the government to restrict immigration. Later on, this seemed racist. PARAGRAPH #2: This relates to the story because this was considered a racist. In the story, there was a lot of racism. And it's not much just the racism its how people argued about it and wondered if it really was racism.
PARAGRAPH #1: In this picture, it shows a Hotel but it can only serve colored people. In the picture, there is a colored person standing under the sign showing that that person may have stayed there. Also, something that stands out is that it says "best service for colored people". The hotel doesn't look that appealing so either that's what they thought was good service or that was good service at the time. PARAGRAPH #2: This relates to the story because some people in the story that were colored lived in warn down the house and sometimes didn't even have money. Also, this picture is probably a good representation of what the town looked like in TKAM. Overall this whole story surrounds racism and otherness and this picture is a good image to look at if your wondering what TKAM would look like.
