Concrete examples are taking the information you are studying and making it more specific and vivid. Using concrete examples is one of the memorizing techniques i find difficult to use. I think that when using this you have to understand the vague information before you can make a specific example and doing that could lead to you not fully understanding the information and doing it wrong. Dual coding is using pictures and graphs to words to try and memorize those pictures. When using dual coding it only works at some points for me. You can also only use it for certain things. I think it works sometimes for me. If i am trying to remember information from history class it works but trying to remember information from english it doesn't. Elaboration is asking open ended questions about the material you are learning to try and correlate it your life. Doing elaboration i find is more difficult and it doesn't help me as much as the others do. When trying elaboration asking the open ended questions confused me more and didn't help me learn or memorize the topic i was trying to learn. The article explains what it is and how to use it. Chunking is being able to break down text or problems into smaller more manageable pieces to try and memorize things. I have used chunking when trying to remember words or when reading pages of a textbook. It helps me because in memorization it lets me put words in groups and from there i can remember the words in those organized groups. The article explains what chunking is and how to use it. For interleaving i used it when studying for Chemistry tests and this helped because I was able to go up at least 10% on the quizzes i took from when i wasn't using interleaving. The article explains the history behind it and when using interleaving you should have a slight idea as too what you are studying before using the skill.
