Amazon is a great source to find books. Not only can you find a huge amount of children's books, but there are also lots of professional development books as well. The books on Amazon are also reasonably priced, which can be dangerous!
A community of millions of educators who come together to share their work, their insights, and their inspiration with one another. Teachers Pay Teachers is the website I utilize the most. There are so many great resources on this site and it has helped me so much for my placements and projects. I would highly recommend this website to any educator because it is a great website to get ideas from.
GoNoodle is a great website that allows for children to have a brain break. There are so many videos that allow for students to get out of their desks for a couple minutes and move and dance around. There is a wide range of different videos for the students, some being nice and slow while others are fast paced. Although this website is more focused towards younger kids, I'm curious to see how a grade 4 or 5 class would react to these videos.
YouTube is an excellent resource to use in a classroom. I am always able to find videos on any subject that are appropriate for the school setting. Not only is YouTube great to use in a classroom, but I also find that it is a great way for me to relieve stress. I am always able to find a funny video on YouTube that brightens my day.
Southwest Horizon School Division is the division my old school is in. Southwest Horizon is also the division I would ultimately love to have a job in, because it's close to home. I would love to work in Souris School or Hartney School, but if I could work at any school in Southwest Horizon, I would be a happy girl.
In my opinion, Pinterest is the best website out there. Pinterest has helped me a huge amount since I've been in Education. Pinterest has so many great ideas on all the different aspects of teaching. There are ideas for math, science, literacy intervention, calendar time, etc. It's a great resource that I use a lot!
Netflix is something I use almost everyday. Even if I just watch one episode of a show, it just gives me that thirty minutes to sit back and not think about school. Netflix also has shows such as Bill Nye and the Magic School Bus that could be used in the classroom.
My mom is my biggest inspiration. She teaches Grade 1/2 at Hartney School. She is the reason I want to become a teacher and I look up to her a lot. She is my role model and if I can be half the teacher she is I will be happy. She has allowed me to come into her classroom several times and has already taught me so much. Not only is she my inspiration, she is also my rock. I would not be where I am without her, and there is a good possibility I would have dropped out of school by now if it wasn't for her pushing me on.
Harry Potter is my favourite book series of all time. I am able to completely escape reality when I read any book from this series. Currently, I am reading the series for the third time and I find myself discovering details throughout the books that I had missed previously when reading the books. Before I started reading Harry Potter I was never a big reader because I could never find a book that I could get extremely interested in. Harry Potter proved to me that there is a book out there for everyone, you just have to search for it. I hope that as a teacher I can help students find one book that interests them in reading, just like Harry Potter did for me.
If I ever have a stressful day, I find having a drink can make things a little better. This Hot Pickled & Peppered Caesar is the caesar of my dreams. I love anything spicy and I also love pickles! Fortunately this caesar is both spicy and pickled, making it the best thing ever!
