Students had an opportunity to let their creative juices flow after we finished reading Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." They had five options for projects and also a choice in working alone or with a partner or trio. I was very pleased with the final projects and loved watching the students debrief the play and translate the complicated storyline into wonderful projects.
Students were asked to use textual evidence and make a valid claim on whether or not Johnny Cade was innocent or guilty of Bob Sheldon's murder. They used the writing process to formulate and organize their ideas into one comprehensive, well-developed paragraph. They learned how to "ICE" their quotes, how to properly cite quotes, how to avoid plagiarism and how to create a proper MLA Works Cited Page.
Students worked in Literature Circles as they read various Holocaust historical fiction novels. As a final project, they created book trailer videos using the WeVideo program.
Vignette Project. I loved how personal this project was and how students shared little glimpses of their lives with me. We worked hard to write in the style of Sandra Cisneros from A House On Mango Street, incorporating simile, metaphor, and imagery along with strong word choice and poetic styles.
