Our country gets 538 total votes for president. This picture shows the amount of votes each state gets. Each state gets however many votes depending on the population in that state. I think the amount of votes each state has is fair because some states are more populated then others. For example California has 55 votes because they have 2.5 million people.
In this video Professor Daniel Lowenstein tells the news his views on the Electoral college. I agree with him in many way, such as it helps keeps our country in line. The states get power over the votes with their Representatives and both senators. If our nation had national popular votes it would be a wreck. The electoral college helps the country have honest elections and not depending on the popular votes.
Electoral College Votes 1/6/17. In this video, congress counts the electoral votes and certifies them. Electoral colleges are time managing but rarely never any miscounting. Changing the electoral college would go against the Constitution. I choose this because it is actual live footage of how the electoral colleges get counted and shows Trumps victory.
U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents aren't directly voted into office by the public; rather, they're elected by presidential electors depending on what the people in that state vote for. It does prevent candidates from taking advantage of populated areas such as California. In the Bill of Rights it says checks and balances that preventing one person taking on too much power. Electoral college helps to stabilize the people so one person does not get all the power. It strengthens the country's federalist character by the power to select the upcoming President and Vice President.
The Electoral College is widely is a large system of anachronism, a method of selecting a president that is the most preferred way. The electoral college keeps the election fair. It helps the states get their votes. Though the candidate with the most popular votes does not always get president it still is evenly distributed. If there is no electoral college then there would not have a certanity outcome. It goes by population in each state so the reps and senators take that into consideration when voting for the president.
