This is my favorite song: Radioactive. My middle school English teacher first showed me this video, and I immediately fell in love with this song. It not only carried me through the tough situation I was in but also shocked my soul. It was the first music that makes me feel relatable. It, for some reason, gives me a feeling of never give up and continue your journey no matter how difficult the situation gets.
My second favorite hobby is reading. My favorite book is Lord of the Flies. Interestingly, I was never interested in reading books; however, Lord of the Flies changed me through its vivid description of true human nature. In the novel, the author William Golding portrays the dark, evil nature of human by describing the conflict between children over authority and prejudice that eventually led to the death of Piggy. Since then I fell in love with reading; though I don't read often ironically.
Since I was a child, I had been a fan of anime(Japanese animations). I experienced a lot of pressure from my parents who expected great things from me. However, I was not as nearly good as they expected and at least wanted. I do understand that they pressured me out of their pure love, and that is why I never really complained about it. The problem is that there is an accumulating pressure that has nowhere to be released. Through watching anime, I releases such pressure and learned many valuable life lessons. The anime Steins Gate really demonstrates the hardship of life and the feeling of regret for not being able to accomplish things that one considers as important. In the end, nothing is perfect, and we just have to live the best out of it.
Vocabulary is one of my greatest weaknesses due to my lack of reading. It greatly affects my daily life from simple as reading assignments to tests like SAT. The vocabulary level I am currently at is not going to carry me through my future college life. Before even talking about college, I am limited by my poor vocabulary thus receiving a poor score on SAT, the stepping stone for college administration.
Though English is one of my worst subject, punctuation is the only "oasis" that I could even find in this subject. Punctuation is relatively a strength for me in writing, thanks for the rigorous training that my parents gave me. However, there are many uncleared or confusing punctuation rules for me to learn and perfect. Really wish that I can correctly use semi-colon in my essays without doubting myself.
I hope that I can expand my vocabulary through this class. I do aware of that learning is all about ourselves. However, some exterior help from this English class will be a nice push for me to continue reading. The most efficient way to expand one's vocabulary is reading, and I hopefully can improve my problem in this class.
My goal is to improve my SAT reading score. In the Reading Test, students will encounter questions that require strong reading comprehension. Through months of learning in this class, I should be able to improve my reading comprehension thus increase my SAT score.
