Use Stop Motion Animation or other video programs/apps to create an informative video.
Students create interactive maps of historical events.
Students create sculptures from weeded library books.
Students use Maker Space tools to animate their 3D art projects.
Students use the Maker Space to design a mask for a monologue project.
Students design and build a disease model to explain risk factors and treatment using Maker Space tools and equipment.
Using Legos, Sphero, Dash and Dot, Hour of Code website, Ozobots, Puzzlets, Makey-Makey kits, and iPad Apps, students teach programming lessons to 3rd graders. Student debrief to discuss what went well and what needs improvement.
High School students design and teach a circuitry lesson to elementary students using a variety of stem tools like Makey-Makey and Little Bits.
Students research natural and man-made disasters and design related rates problems along with a 3D Model of their related rate. Example Models: Java App to show rates of infection in a Zombie Apocalypse, Globe/Clay Bees to show population decline, Candy canes and a shoe box to represent deforestation. Students research a conic principle in the real world and then design a model using a variety of maker space tools from 3D printing to "junk" like popsicle sticks, carbboard tubes, and old foam coolers. Skills Taught: Collaboration, Communication, Design, Problem Solving
Students plan, design, and build a game board to analyze the novel Of Mice and Men. Game pieces are 3D printed. Skills Used - Game Design, Planning, Organizing, Creating, Critiquing - Analyzing Text - 3D Printing - Collaborating and Problem Solving
Interested in having your students program the robot with commands in Spanish to practice what they have learned. Starting in the Spring Term, collaborate with the Library to design a Maker Space Project that will have your students engaged, collaborating and problem solving.
The Maker Space launches on November 6th from 1:45 - 3 pm after school. Students will compete to design the best cardboard creature.
