Though this was designed as activity to be preformed in class, this article demonstrates exactly how the calculations to getting to mars are preformed. Launch windows are incredible complex mathematical problems. In the activity explained it makes assumptions in order to simplify the equation but later goes not to explain some of the variable involved in finding a launch window. Some of the variables mentioned were that mars and earth both have elliptical orbits. This means that there are some forward orbits that have to be factored out. One other variable that was mentioed was Kepler's principle with what makes the rate of the orbits change.

In order to speed up the proses of coming up with a solution to this problem, NASA has invited five other universities to help come up with a solution the the problem. Most of the have come up with the same results so far but all five schools continue to look for a way to extract water from mars. The current theory on how to do that is by setting up some sort of drill system an extracting ice from the ground.

The hope is that it can be sent with astronauts to make breathable air for the crew once on the planet. Although this has not been tested it is hoped that on the next mission the prototype of moxie will be sent to test weather the device actually works. If found that it works then a version of it will then be sent to mars in help of colonization. This version of it will also be able to scale up in size to meet the oxigen production demands. This device will be one of the more crucial demands for a manned mission to mars.

This is not even that big of an asteroid, it would only take one about the size of a football field to destroy earth and one only the side of a soccer field to kill all life on earth. This is why we must colonize mars. If we spread the human race across two planet then If one gets taken out then the human species does not go extinct because there was people on the other planet to continue to thrive.
