(Draanen, Wendelin Van. The Running Dream. New York: Ember, 2012. Print.) Jesica, a track star runner, gets into a car accident and loses her leg in the aftermath. While recovering, she makes a new friend named Rosa who has cerebral palsy. Later, her whole track team raises money for a prosthetic leg so Jesica can run again. Rosa has always wanted to run but never could so Jesica trains for a race with her prosthetic leg and plans to push Rosa with a wheelchair al the way to the finish line. Overall, Jesica learns not to keep things for advantage. The reason why I chose this book was that it was one of my top favorite books I had read this year. The Running Dream taught me that so things happen for a reason and that everything will be okay in the end. Also, it taught me that we should always see everyone the same and not judge others of their appearance.
(Hopkins, Ellen, and Henning Ahrens. Crank. Hamburg: Carlsen, n.d. Print.) Kristina is a teenage girl with is addicted to drugs. She makes bad decisions and later learns that she is pregnant by a man who raped her. Later Kristina gives birth to a new personality who she calls Bree. Bree is a bad girl who flirts with boys and takes drugs. I usually don't choose poetry books but while reading Crank I did not find it like a poem I read it like a normal book which I really liked. Even though I couldn't relate to this book it taught me what it is like to not have a perfect life and how it is like to be addicted to drugs. I feel like this is a book everyone has to read so that is why I choose this book.
(Forman, Gayle. If I Stay. London: Definitions, 2014. Print.) Mia is a musician who loves her family and her boyfriend Adam. Mia gets into a car crash and her family dies immediately. She later finds herself in a hospital out of her body but she is alive. As we know it a comma. Mia has a choice if she wants to live/stay or just to fade away like her family did. What will she choose? I thought this book was really intriguing and I had to just keep reading. I never wanted to put down this book. I loved how the author wrote this book it had a great flow and I could feel like I was in Mia's shoes.
Donoghue, Emma. Room: A Novel. London: Picador, 2015. Print. Jack's mom was kidnaped before he was born and she got raped by Old Nick, later Jack is born in Room. This book takes place when Jack is a little boy and he has never been outside in the real world; he doesn't even know there is anything outside the room world. His mom wants to escape and has to teach Jack that they are going to run away from Old Nick. Will they ever escape? Will Jack ever understand? This book was very interesting just in the first few pages. Even though this book was very long I also could not put this book down. I really liked how you could see how Jack was thinking and this is one of my favorite books.
Yoon, Nicola. Everything, Everything. London: Corgi Children's, 2017. Print. Everything Everything is about a girl named Maddie who has SCID. She later meets her new next door neighbor, Olly, and falls in love. Will he ever be able to meet her true love? The reason why this book made it on my list is that it is a very good book and has a need to know lesson. Also, I love the way the author writes and that you can really feel how Maddie feels. Everything Everything is a very different love story and I liked that because most love stories books are the same. Also, I learned that you should keep trying and not give up and everything you hear not be true. Lastly, you have to take risks to live an exciting life.
