Being androgynous means a person is partly male and partly female in appearance. Ruby Rose is a great example in figure 3 she is talks in an article about androgynous. Ruby Rose says she has always been a tomboy since she was little, she also says she is gender fluid. Ruby Rose felt hurt in the past when people would criticise her by the way she dressed. She says fashion means expressing who you are and how you can express yourself. It doesn't matter if you’re dressed like a male or female as long as you feel like yourself it’s all that matters. People that are androgynous are not born specifically to perform as women the way women do or as men the way men do. In the 70s glam rock bands were androgynous, for example David Bowie is androgynous he dresses like a female, he wore female clothes and makeup.

In the 70s glam rocks band would usually wear crazy makeup. In Figure 2 you can see the singer Kesha; her makeup is what you wouldn't usually see it is different and really outgoing. She has on diagonal neon orange stripe going down the left side of her face which goes all the way down to her chest. On the opposite side it is the same but it is a neon pink and starts a bit higher than the orange. Her eye makeup is also really crazy as you can see she has a black outline around her eyes, then has a neon yellow shape on the top on the black outline which then goes down to the centre of the nose. On her lips she is wearing a neon pink lipstick. The thing makes this look stand out is the bright neon stripes on the side of her face. In the 70s David Bowie was an artist who wore crazy makeup and wasn't your natural everyday makeup. In Figure 2 the singer Kasha is wearing crazy makeup just like they would in the 70s.
