I love live, free form music. It can truly uplift me and can even be a spiritual experience. I attended my first Grateful Dead concert in 1973, and haven't stopped going to concerts since.
Dogs, especially my dog, Bogart, are very important to me. I could not imagine living without a dog in my life. Although I have had both large and small dogs, at this point in my life, small, non-shedding dogs, like my Shih Tzu - Bichon mix are just perfect.
One of the true pleasures in life is curling up with a good book. THe right book can transport you to places you couldn't possibly visit and allow you to experience seemingly impossible things. Books can let you revisit history or travel to the future. A good book will let you experience a gamut of emotions from great joy to great sadness. It seems the books I enjoy the most, are the ones that make me cry.
There is nothing more soothing than working in the garden under the warm spring sun. Digging in the dirt, planning and then watching the garden bloom is something I look forward to every year.
I have 2 parrots, Ripple, a Senegal Parrot and Dupree, an Orange WInged Amazon Parrot. I really enjoy seeing how they learn new words and songs. Ripple loves being scratched around his head & neck, but only by me. He can say a few words, but Dupree can say about 25 words and whistle a few songs. Both birds can live a long time and may live longer than me!
Making things with my own hands is so satisfying. Learn how to knit your own mittens, hats, scarves, and more. It is not hard to do, it just takes patience and practice.
