A.The United States declares war on the Empire of Japan, and not too long after, Germany and Italy declare war on the United States. This entered the United States into WWII. C. This event decided our lives today.B. If the Axis Powers won my family in Nigeria may have been effected since they where in Nigeria which was under British Rule at the time. This ties greatly to today, because this decided if the U.S was going to preserve freedom in the world, just like how they try to do today.
A. After the Use of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima, and the Soviet Union taking control of the counties once held by Nazi Germany, trust with the U.S ans U.S.S.R was extremely low. Ironically they where allies before the period.C. This caused great fear among American Citizens as the U.S.S.R began to work on nuclear weapons.B.This event shows me how the amount of tension in the World does not compare nearly to that period of time and how grateful we should be about some things in our world today, that is what makes it important. This reminds me of the U.S and countries like North Korea and Iran are today. We are so hostile to each other and many times at the brink of war.
A. The United States dropped a Atomic Bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima August 6, 1945. An estimated 60-80,000 people died as a result of the nuclear explosion completely destroying the city. C. This also put great awareness into the American citizens about war.B. This shows me how devastating just one nuclear bomb can be on a city, which is really important. This event connects to the present, because it shows how just one push of a button can end it all for a community.
A. On April 6, 1917, The United States of America declared war on Germany after an array of assault towards the a United States. Including asking Mexico to invade the U.S. C. This event boosted the U.S economy into the roaring 20s. B. It shows me how a few bad diplomatic things could run 2 counties into a major conflict and as a citizen myself and many more people, we could all be affected and caught in between something like this war, which makes it a major importance of the time. This event and everything leading up to this event reminds me of the U.S and North Korea conflict, and how just a few bad decisions could turn into a bloody conflict later down the world.
A. The Great Depression was a worldwide economic downturn that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939. The unemployment rate was at 25% in the U.S! C. This was terrible and it shows me how different this was to the 2008 recession. B Even though the unemployment rate isn't nearly as high it reminds me of how the past few presidents have tried to bring more jobs and work into the U.S. This important to me for our futures in America
A. The influenza pandemic of 1918-1920 killed more people than World War I. B. 675,000 Americans died during this time. This was the deadliest epidemic ever killing an estimated 20 to 40 million people world wide. B. This is important to me, because it shows me how times have changed with medicine and how we treat diseases. The flu epidemic was called the Spanish flu, because of Spain's uncensored media breaking the news of this issue. This shows me how the flu and medicine of this time shows how technology has advanced over the years. C. This event, though more deadly than today's "epidemic" brings a connection how almost 100 years ago we where dealing with the flu as a major issue also.
A.On August 14, 1935 social security was created for the American elderly who had worked all their lives and decided to retire. C.This brought more income to the American elderly helping them at that time of need. B.This reminds me the Tax-Cuts recently signed into law. That s why this is so important to me. We don't know too much about them and they could be good for the future or end up failing. Hopefully they end up Good!
A. The Kodak Brownie camera was released February 1900, and sold for one dollar($28 dollars adjusted for inflation). C. This brought photography to amateurs in the United States. B. This showed me how time can fly with technology as a super sonic speed, that's what made it important in my opinion. In 1900 the camera was fairly new, and now bendable phones are in development now. This connects to today, because this was very innovative for our world long ago and every year now some company thinks of cool ideas and puts them into production like this camera.
A.Prohibition in the United States was a ban against the sale, production and movement of alcohol. This created for the United States a rise of gangsters, crime, and speakeasies or underground secret clubs. As a person it shows me that people are willing to what they want to do if they believe in something so strong, for example gangsters like Al Capone did this. C. This reminds me of the sale of drugs in the U.S today and how that too brought a rise of crimes and gangs.B That is what makes it important to me, because of the similarities
A. On March 6, 1912 the Oreo cookie was introduced to the Public. It would forever leave it's mark on the U.S food industry.B. This invention is important to me, because without the Oreo there would be no cookie that can compare to it. C. This doesn't really connect to anything present day except that it is still around and enjoyed by many in this present day 2018.
