Children's toys being advertised as for girls and boys.
Gender equality in the workplace is not yet perfect, but it's the best it's ever been. Mothers used to be expected to stay home and take care of their children. Today many women have successful careers and model for their children that women can have jobs just like men can.
"Gender affects what children wear and what they can play with, and that shapes the kind of person they become." Most parents immediately share the news of the baby’s sex, if they hadn’t already learned it during an ultrasound. Not so for Beck Laxton, 46, and her partner Kieran Cooper, 44. They kept their child's identity a secret until the child was five years old! They wanted to "avoid" all the stereotyping.
This link takes you to a PowerPoint that explains how women's dress has changed over the years. Women used to be expected to wear dresses or skirts. Pants were looked at as being only for men. Today women can wear pants without being looked at as "manly". This creates a more gender equal society for children to grow up in.
