When people with struggles become more troubled, people must understand their struggle. The Californian community is struggling to get themselves in the streets once again aka license taken away because of debts. Many are disagreeing with the fact that people are getting their license taken away because they couldn't pay their fines. But then they are getting even more fined for not showing up to court and their debts keep rising just because they can't drive. According to many it is unfair to take away things because many have necessities that they need to be able to go on with their lives. To the people this is a violation to their rights and the prosecutors are guilty. For they should have used the "Bench Card" that allows an alternative way to pay fines and debts.
Both parties seem to want to achieve goals that will make a huge change- respect towards their property and the right to protest. However in this article the main priority is to protect important and valued items. Unless protesters respect property they wont be fined a minimum of $10,000. This may seem ridiculous but people have the right to be able to have authority to their belongings. The fine wont be a violation to the 'victim's' rights because they been given a notice, making them precaution of what they do. They should be able to choose their decision regarding what they actually want, so that later they wont complain.
This article is located in a local news website, whose motto is "On Your Side" it could mean on the victims or the opposing side. In this particular event, a woman was given a $2,500 fine because her one of her dogs wouldn't stop barking. Her neighbors complained, however when they found out about the fine they weren't supporting the decision of the officer. "Its ridiculous...and uncalled for",said one of the neighbors who complained. Making us conclude that all the residents wanted was some silence and a fair solution. When research was done a policy popped up about giving excessive fines to citizens so that they could show up to court and make it easier to resolve problems. Both groups have different stories but both try to somehow create ideas to achieve tranquility in their community.
The article states that many in DeKalb County, Georgia are suffering the consequences of failing to pay their fines because they are poor. This caused many like Kevin Thompson to end up in jail. This is clearly unfair according to the author because they mentions the "bench card"- an alternative way to pay off fines in case of certain difficulties. By sending the poor to jail, the county and chief judge violated their rights. The author makes the reader note that the prisoners who are mostly in jailed due to this process are African Americans. Minorities are the most impacted due to the lack of respect and equality of their rights.
The author of this article experience the thrill of the Powerball ticket spree, meeting people ,and making note of what they planed. However, the ticket isn't as helpful as it seems to the world. The people of color experience the disadvantage of discrimination. The author of course has notice that many disadvantage of being a person of color is that they are easier to discriminate or put aside. The process of overcriminalization is a process that points people of color, black people in this case, are more likely to be question over a crime or a suspect. Unlike the Anglo, who aren't suspicious or wary of. This causes the POC to be fined more over small "crimes". However, instead of being fined they should be able to be given a easier solution but that is denied.
