ary and Reflection: This is a Documentary about 9/11 that was filmed in 2002, one year after the attacks. It shows everything, from the planes flying into the building and the follows through with the rescues of the firefighters and police. It shows the destruction, and the firefighters bravely going into the soon to collapse buildings to try and save the people inside. It shows the smoke and fires and rubble everywhere and the people being carried out, some dead and some alive. It shows people jumping out of the windows, having rather killed themselves than let the terrorists kill them. In my opinion, this was an excellent documentary. It was extremely well made and very emotional. It really put me in the setting of 9/11 and I could feel the emotions of the people who were there to experience this tragic event. It was incredibly sad (obviously) but it was well done and it really brought to light the extent of the tragedy. Yes it sounds awful when you hear about it but seeing it like this put it in a whole new perspective of just how terrifying and saddening this event was and still is.
This is one of 5 songs on their album “The 5 Boroughs” that is dedicated to 9/11. In this song the beastie boys sing about New York and how diverse it is, and wonderfully accepting it is of all nations. They talk about how even though New York is down two towers, they haven’t killed New York’s spirit and they will come back up even stronger. This is a song to New York and the people of New York, essentially thanking them for being home still, even though they’ve been through alot. In my opinion this song is a great dedication to 9/11. It is more of an emotional comforting song written to New York and the people of New York, in hopes of giving them support and hope in this terrible time. I listened to this song all the time when I was little but I never knew what it was about and I like it even more now because it’s a really touching song about how New York will remain strong and rebuild because they are powerful and nothing can tear them down.
This is a painting done by someone who wanted to dedicate one of her pieces to the 9/11 tragedy. It shows the twin towers still standing with two hands that are coming together to grasp each other. One of the hands in painted black and one is painted white. In my opinion, this picture is showing that people need to come together to help the victims of this horrific event. All the diversity of New York needs to come together and rebuild their city because this won’t tear them down. If America comes together then we can fight this war on terror together but we must be working together in order for it to be successful.
This is an image taken within the first 36 hours after the planes crashed into the twin towers. The firefighters have been working non stop to try and find and save people. This image is of one of those hard working firefighters who is just devastated due to the loss. I don’t really know the full story but I am assuming he is exhausted and overwhelmed with death and the losses surrounding him. In my opinion this photograph is extremely sad. You can almost feel the emotions that he’s going through and the deep feeling of loss and sadness. The rubble surrounding him greatly contrasts with his uniform and you can tell that he is overwhelmed with this destruction.
This article is assessing the extent to which people will really follows through with the “never forget” and “We will always remember” slogans of the aftermath of 9/11. The author is challenging the congress and what they have done, are doing, and will do in order to provide medical care for those affected by 9/11. The author says that congress has a “moral obligation” to do something and help these victims, but they haven’t done much so far. In my opinion this is a very genuine concern that this writer has. I think it is a very important issue and I feel as if so far we are doing a pretty good job remembering this event. A lot has changed since then involving airport security and security in general. Great changes were made due to this event security and protection wise. I am not very educated on what is going on with the medical care system right now so I can’t really comment on that but I hope congress is doing all they can to help the victims of 9/11.
This is an article informing the public of the tragic event that took place the day before. It describes how the planes were hijacked and flown into the twin towers and the pentagon, and how they suspect another was going to be flown into the white house but was stopped by passengers beforehand. It tells us that the attacks were carefully planned and carried out It describes the reactions of people and the first responders, and what they have been and are doing in order to account for all of the people who were inside the buildings at the time of the crash. It then goes on to describe the aftermath of this attack, and how the Military was put on high alert and troops were sent to Washington D.C. Two aircraft carriers were also dispatched into the New York Harbor. In my opinion this article was incredibly well written, and describes this horrific event in great detail, explaining all parts of it. This made me incredibly sad to read, as I knew about 9/11 but I had never really read this much into it. It is insane how many people died or were injured in this event, including over 200 firefighters and rescuers.
