A. The Great Depression was terrible economic problems that took many peoples jobs away from them. This effected our nation because many people were left with literally nothing, and had to find work for themselves in order to stay alive and to support themselves and their families. B. The great depression effected me as a person, because I am fortunate to be living in a time where there are many jobs, and my family is save and ok; However, I feel extremely lucky, as I know that many people lost their jobs, their home, food, their money, and a lot of people died of hunger and disease. C. Thus connects to the present day because, many people are lucky enough to have homes, jobs and are able to support their families. Some people do not have homes and jobs, and we as a nation are trying our best to change those conditions. Also, due to human nature, sometimes we take things for granted but the idea that some people are struggling in our world and have struggled during the great depression helps us to snap out of it and be thankful that our generation, and any generations does not have to go through that terrible time again.,
A. In 1912, the first Oreo cookie was created. Ever since they started being made, over 362 billion were sold! This effected our nation, because this was the new money maker in the 1900s. The creators became extremely wealthy and Oreos started being sold to sellers and stores all over the world. B. The creation of the Oreo cookie effects me personally, because I get to eat them, and support the company at the same time. I think they are the best cookies in the whole world, and I think they are so creative. C. To conclude, Oreos connect to the present day, because Oreos are still being sold all over the world, and people are always creating different flavor combinations and types to sell to consumers and stores.
A. In 1902, the first movie theater opened in Los Angeles! This effected the nation because after all the years of trying to bring ideas to life, we finally figured it out! This was pivotal because it brought tons of potential and excitement to the table, and allowed people to think creatively in a way that is not an everyday way. B. The first movie theater effects me because I love watching other peoples ideas come to the screen, and without the first theater, I would not be able to come up with my own ideas for future movies, because they wouldn't be a thing! Also, there would not be any way to make peoples thought and ideas come to life! C. This effects the present day because without the invention of the first movie theater, thousands of ideas would be stuck in peoples brains, and it would be impossible to portray them, and be expressed for others wo watch them!
A. The film industry was created in four parts. The silent era, the Classical Hollywood Cinema, New Hollywood, and the Contemporary period. This effected our nation because the idea of movies was created. This was pivotal because it became an extremely popular career, and encouraged the idea of performing to all types of people. B. The film industry effected me as a person, because I love watching movies, and one of my goals is to be in a movie in Hollywood one day. I think this was pivotal because without movies, I would never have gotten inspired to have the dream of being in a Hollywood movie. C. The introduction of the film industry effects the present day because thousands of movies are being created right this second. Also, people of all types, from all over the world, are given the opportunity to be in a movie. Movies not only let people be themselves, but they make people happy as well.
A. The introduction of the first grocery store, was definitely a pivotal moment in the 1900s. People now had the freedom of choice to pick and choose what food they wanted, which led them to get jobs, and impress other companies. This effected us as a nation, because it led to many job opportunities, which often dug people out of money problems. Also, during world war two, many shops closed down leaving people with almost nothing, or nothing. The supermarkets however, stayed open. B. The first supermarket definitely had a positive effect on my life. Although I may not have been born when the first grocery store had opened, my family and I still rely on grocery stores to supply my food, so I can stay healthy and strong. This also effects me because I am fortunate to be able to shop at grocery stores, as I know many people are not. C. Finally, the opening of the first grocery store effects the present day, because without the many grocery stores we have now, millions of people would starve, become sick, and even die.
A. Jackie Robinson was the First African American to participate and play in major league baseball. This had a ENORMOUS effect on our nation because in the 1900s, there was discrimination against those with darker skin. This showed those people who had strong feelings against black individuals that they were extremely capable and talented. Jackie Robinson was an amazing person, who proved them wrong. B. Jackie Robinson effects me as a person, because he taught me to treat everyone equally and with kindness. I believe that if you can not say anything nice, you should not say anything. Jackie believed in this saying too, and showed everyone that bravery and kindness beats discrimination. C. Jackie Robinson connects to the present day, because more and more African Americans are joining and participating in all types of sports team all over the world. While there are still some places that are discriminating against black people, the world is trying harder then ever to stop it, keeping Jackie Robinson in the back of our minds.
A. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean! She was definitely a positive impact in the 1900s. She impacted our nation because she was one of the bravest women in our history. Another reason how she impacted our nation, was because there was a lot of segregation against women, and many people believed that they were less capable then men. Clearly, Amelia Earhart succeeded in proving those wrong. B. Amelia Earhart impacted my life, by inspiring me to believe that women are capable of anything, despite what other people think. She also inspires me to speak up if I feel something is unfair, and If I feel the need to prove them wrong, then I will. C. She definitely connects to the present day because many of the pilots in the world are female. While they may not fly themselves across the Atlantic Ocean alone every time, they are just as brave, if not more then those pilots who are men.
A. The Wright brothers changed our entire world, by creating the first flight in 1903. This was a pivotal because without the first flight, we would have no way of getting over oceans, or places we can not drive to. B. The Wright brothers effected me personally, because my family loves to travel. This summer we are going to Israel, which is a place in which it is impossible to drive to. Our vacation would not be possible without an airplane. Also, without airplanes, My family from out of town would never be able to visit my family and I. C. Lastly, The first flight connects to the present day because millions of people everyday fly all over the world, and if the Wright brothers did not invent the first airplane, those people would not be able to travel!
A. Polio is a terrible disease that affects your nerves, and can end with partial or full paralysis. (Being paralyzed) When a person is diagnosed with polio. there is a 25-75% that a person can die, and thousands of people died in the 1900s of polio. That is why Dr. Jonas Salk is a pivotal person in our history because he created the polio vaccine. B. The polio vaccine effects me personally because, thankfully I have never gotten polio. I am extremely thankful for the vaccine, because being paralyzed is one of the worst things in the world. Sadly I have multiple family members who have had polio, and only one of them survived. C. The polio vaccine connects to the present times because, without the vaccine, a polio would be a lot more common, and more and more people would be diagnosed, paralyzed, extremely sick, and probably die.
A. On April 15 1912, a giant ship collided with an iceberg, and sank, killing 1,514 people. This was one of the deadliest shipwrecks in world history. This effects our nation because after this terrible time, people made boats more stable and increased safety precautions. This was also the first global issue with boats, the responses were horrifying. B. The sinking of the Titanic effects me as a person, because when I go on boats, I can not help but think about the titanic, and how thankful I am to be on a boat with serious safety rules, as hundreds of people were extremely unlucky and lost their lives that night, C. The Titanic connects to the present times, because as people, we need to be extra thankful that there are extreme safety measures every time we step onto a boat, and without those, there could be a disaster at any time!
