Oskar Schindler is definitely a hero. In my artifacts it talked about how he saved lives, rebelled against his own party, bought a factory to help give people money, worked very hard, and had fortitude after the war. Oskar saving lives is so important to his role as a hero. He had to betray the natzis and helped a to Of Jewish people in need. This makes him a really great heroic person because it is something that most people wouldn't do.
Oskar went bankrupt after the war and didn't have enough money to support him and his wife. He had to stay strong and show fortitude to get money. He mainly relied on grateful Jewish people's money, but he had to fly back to Europe and leave his wife. He moved into a small apartment and believed that things would turn up. He was very grateful for the money but he was so heroic by staying strong and not giving up even after his immense exploit. In the article it said, "But Oscar Schindler met with no success, and in 1957 he became bankrupt and travelled back alone to Europe." This quote explains how he had to fly back home even after trying to earn money. He had so much fortitude and was such a hero. This is #5 because he isn't really known for his mental strenght after the war. It is a heroic quality but not as heroic as saving lives, rebelling against your own party, and being immensely hard working.
Oskar had several jobs and worked very hard. He started when he was young working for his father in sales, he then left that buisness but he did start a new one. His job later was a electric sales person. He also was a polish business man. Not a lot of people are that hard working, except for heroes. He worked for all these businesses and some of them to help his country like when he was a buisness man or when he joined the nazi party. In the article it stated, "During the 1920s, Schindler worked in sales for his father...Schindler subsequently left his father's employ and became a sales manager for a Moravian electric company. His new job often took him to Poland on business, and over time he developed a strong affinity for the city of Krakow, the ancient seat of Polish kings." This shows all of the jobs he has done and how incredibly hard working he is. This is #4 because him being hard working had to motivate home to save the Jewish people because a lazy person would not want to work that hard to save a bunch of people's lives. He isn't really known for being a hard worker and that is why I ranked this #4.
Oskar bought a bankrupt factory with his money which he used to hire Jewish people. He employed the Jewish people to help them. Employing hem helped them by giving them a place to hide during the holocaust and giving them money because they are working. If he didn't buy the factory then that company would probably go out of business and the Jewish people wouldn't have money because they wouldn't be able to work. In the article it said, "For the money he earned he bought the enamel factory at Lipowa 4, where he employed thousands of Jews from the nearby ghetto." This explains how he bought the factory with his own money to employ Jewish people even though he could probably employ other Germans, and it shows how he used his money to keep the factory in business. This is #3 because he isn't that well known for this but people still acknowledge this about him. Without the factory he couldn't hide the Jewish people and this is under him rebelling his own party because that is more heroic because it takes courage whereas buying a factory doesn't take any courage.
Oskar was a member of the nazi party as of February 1939 and people who were apart of that party were trained to hate Jewish people. He rebelled against his party which really showed virtuous because he needed to believe in his moral principles/his heart to rebel against his own party. The article said, "Schindler did not act here without risk or cost; his protection of his Jewish workers and some of his shady business dealings led SS and police authorities to suspect him of corruption and of giving unauthorized aid to Jews. German SS and police officials arrested him three times..." This shows that even though he was a part of the nazi party he still rebelled. Oskar did get caught, and arrested for his risky business. This evidence is #2 because it is something that he had to do in order to save the Jewish people which was my #1 evidence. Is he didn't rebel against his own party he wouldn't be able tos ave Jewish people and that is why this is ranked #2.
Oskar Schindler saved 1,100 Jewish people's lives during the holocaust. He was a former german spy and a member of the nazi party. A quote from the article was,"...over 1,100 Jews whose lives he saved during the Holocaust in World War II." This shows how Oskar saved several Jewish people's lives. He showed immense altruism by helping others and devoting his concerns to others in danger. This is Evidence number one because it was an exploit. This evidence shows what he is most known for and the main reason he is a hero because most people know him for saving 1,100 Jews lives, and ishis most heroic act and that is why it is ranked #1.
