In the novel The Circle, the author Dave Eggers uses the main character Mae to reveal how hard work and determination can lead to success. For Mae she struggles at her new job working for a powerful tech company which records and exposes personal information from the internet. As she discovers more and more everyday about the corrupt world she is living in and working in she decides to try and help. Therefore, she does everything in her ability to prove that the ideas being taught are wrong. Mae’s dedication leads her to a happier life as she exposes the negativity to everyone being corrupted.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a Civil Rights activist who worked hard and fought for freedom. In his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, King talks about the actions he is taking to help bring equality to African Americans. In the letter, his perseverance is part of his everyday life. He spends all of his energy trying to succeed and make the world a better place. He is clearly extremely dedicated and determined to get what he wants and deserves. This is proven as he sits in a jail cell in which he does not belong in, but deems it necessary in order to succeed.
Percy Jackson is a fictional character and the son of Poseidon. He is sent on an epic adventure. He is given the task to travel across the country and find the most powerful tool of destruction, Zeus's lightning bolt. Percy realizes how important it is for him to succeed because the safety of the rest of the world is relying on him. Therefore, he must show extreme perseverance in order to accomplish his task. Even though it is not easy to succeed under large amounts of pressure, hard work and endurance are key success factors. The diligence Percy displayed helped and motivated him to succeed.
Albert Einstein was one of the smartest people ever born. However, life did not come easy for him. He couldn't speak until he was four and read until seven. His teachers and parents considered him to be mentally handicapped. He was punished and discouraged for being different than the other kids. Instead of being upset he spent his time at home studying and trying his hardest to succeed. All of his hard work payed off because he won a Nobel Prize and is known for being “the face of physics”. He is a great example of how hard work can pay off.

The story describes the importance of hard work and how any obstacles can be torn down with the idea that people can do anything if they put their mind to it and try hard enough. This story is meant to teach young children this idea so as they grow up they have the mindset that they can succeed no matter what.

His title of “a pioneer of the American animation industry” was tested when he was denied financial support because investors said he lacked “imagination”. This encouraged him to work harder and prove that his creativity brought great ideas. He is sent to help others while still managing to compete against the others to succeed and be the best.
Thomas Edison is one of the most influential people known to man and is known as “America's Greatest Inventor”. He is responsible for creating the electric light bulb. His invention however did not come easily. Of course, he had to work hard in order to succeed. He spent years determined to accomplish something great and did so through persistence.
