In this book, the Cat in the Hat comes and causes lots of trouble for some kids whose mother is away for the day. He wants to have fun with them, but he makes a huge mess. The character that I relate to in this book is the fish. The fish keeps warning the kids that the Cat is trouble, and they should send him away. As a mother and a teacher, I also feel as though my job is to warn my kids and students of the trouble around them, so that they can avoid huge problems in their lives.
Bear learns a valuable lesson about hard work from his neighbors, the Hare family. In this book the hare is very tricky. He always finds ways to trick the bear out of his schemes. Sometimes hares are the foolish ones in stories, but in this story, the hare is the smart one and he takes care of his family by outsmarting the bear. I am sometimes like the hare. I like to be one step smarter than people sometimes, and I always take care of my family!
