The Piedmont region is a hilly part of Georgia. Piedmont means "foot of the mountains". This region lies between the far northern mountains and the flat southern plains. This region is known for its red clay. There are two main rivers, the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers.
The piedmont region is home to over 50% of Georgia's population. It has granite and marble under the ground. Its climate gets very hot especially in the summer.
