A. This may have been the most impactful event when it comes to twentieth century America. The Pearl Harbor attacks were when Japan attacked the United States at a naval base in Honolulu, causing America to enter the war. Many of our ships were destroyed and many deaths and injuries were caused. B. This has had an impact on me because it is something I find extremely important and interesting. It makes me proud to be an American knowing that we got through something like that. In fact, we went on to defeat Japan in WWII despite this challenge. C. America was completely altered after WWII. We are now a much stronger, smarter, and powerful nation because of this event. Being the named the victors of WWII is one of America's greatest accomplishments.
A. The invention of penicillin was impactful on America because it was the first major antibiotic to be discovered. In fact, the discovery of penicillin was the base for all antibiotics. B. This has had an impact on me because today part of what keeps me healthy is antibiotics. For example, when I go to the doctor and they tell me that I'm sick they perscribe an antibiotic to keep me safe and healthy. C. This connects to modern day because penicillin began the world of antibiotics and we wouldn't have been able to make as many medical advances as we have if it weren't for events like this.
A. The first splitting of an atom was achieved by a man names Ernest Rutherford in the early twentieth century. He completely changed not only America, but the world with his ground breaking discoveries. B. He has had an impact on me because many of the things I learn about in science, which is my favorite subject, were discovered by him, earning his a Nobel Peace Prize for science for his work in the chemistry field. C. The splitting of atoms has changed modern day America because we are now able to explore a whole new world of science that we may have never been able to see before.

Our first time using tanks in the war was successful in leading us to victory during the lesser known Battle of Flers. B. This has had an impact on me because it is now one of the main things the United States Army uses as weapons and they are in charge of keeping civilians like myself safe. C. Modern day war has progressed in terms of weaponry, one of those weapons being the tank. The tank has revolutionized the way wars are fought today.

This event has impacted me because it shows me the bravery and courage required to make a change in the world, something the Wright brothers definitely display. C. These brothers connect to present day America because it proves to us that people from an ordinary background can achieve extraordinary things. They also have revolutionized the way we travel.
A. The Titanic sinking had a huge impact on America because it caused a major tragedy that brought people together. It also completely changed the way we view traveling by sea. B. This had an impact on me because it causes me to not take my life for granted and to think cautiously about traveling. C. This connects to present day because it has completely shifted the way we go about sea travel. On the Titanic, there were not nearly enough safety rafts because they didn't think it could sink. Now, we are far more cautious.
A. Amelia impacted the people of America because she was the first to set out accross the Atlantic Ocean successfully. This was a huge deal because for someone to fly that far on their own seemed virtually impossible at the time. B. She has impacted me because she is such an inspiration. I did a presentation on her in fifth grade because I thought she was so cool. She has showed me that women can achieve the impossible. C. She connects to modern day because her dissapearance is still one of the biggest mysteries of the twentieth century. We will never forget her bravery.
A. Jackie had a big impact on America because he was the first black man to enter Major League Baseball. Therefor, he opened the door for many blacks who had dreams of persuing a professional sport. B. He has had an impact on my life because he has showed me that even if something had never been done, it is possible to achieve if you set your mind to it. Since I play sports, this is a very strong message for me. C. He connects to modern day America because now the world of sports is accepting to all races thanks to people like him.

This product sparked a market for a wide variety of photography related products. B. This has impacted me because photography is something I really enjoy and it derived from this product. C. Present day cameras are similar to this and use things like the Brownie as inspiration.
A. The Oreo had an impact on America because it gave people a delightful snack to enjoy in the midst of hardships that people were facing in the early 1900's, specifically WWI. B. Oreos have had an impact on me because they are one of my favorite childhood snacks and they never fail to put me in a good mood! C. They have had an impact on modern day America because they are currently one of the biggest names in the snack world. Billions of Oreos have been sold in America since their invention in the early twentieth century.
