This sculpture, White Tears, was created by Juan Isasa in 2017 to support anti racism. It was created in Madrid Spain, because thats where the artist lives. He created this sculpture because he saw that racism was coming back in the community and he wanted to make something that could bring the community back together.
Ron Rosenbaum painted this piece about the war of Pequots. In this war an estimated seven-hundred Pequots were either killed or taken into captivity. This war took place in New England between the Pequots and an alliance of the English Colonists in 1636 to 1638. The reason for the painting was to show how much racism was happening between the indians and the colonists. This painting shows my theme racism because it shows an example of it.
Aberjhani made this quote in his book "Elemental, The Power of Illuminated Love" Published in on May 15th, of 2008. He wrote this book at his home in Savanna, Georgia. He said this because he believes in it. My artifact is about how instead of looking at what's on the outside of people, we should look at what's on the inside because thats where the real beauty is. This Quote demonstrates the theme because it shows how we shouldn't judge people by their looks or their mind.
American Airlines tops all other airlines in racial discrimination. According to Fortune.com, American Airlines, from August of this year to back in 2016, has received 29 complaints for discrimination. These complaints have been reported from all over the U.S. The organization still doesn't know why these complaints are washing in, but the CEO Doug Parker says he is, "disappointed" by the news.
An anonymous person wrote this folk blues song about the Scottsboro boys trial that occurred in 1931. It was first printed in the book "Negro Songs of Protest", (New York; Carl Fischer, Inc) which was a collection compiled by Lawrence Gellert in 1936. Where and how it was written is unknown. This poem demonstrates my theme racism, by demonstrating the social outrage and confusion of how the young men were negatively impacted.
This artifact fits my theme because it shows what it was like to live as a black man in the 1960's when racism was very prevalent in the U.S. The book explains his experience as a black man from a white mans perspective. His account of the trip includes him giving his seat to a white woman and her insulting him and calling the blacks impudent instead of thanking him. This book was written by John Howard Griffin.
