Because of the countless number of refugees coming to Europe, people want to know what the general population think of it. Chatham House did a survey to see what the majority of people thought. They surveyed more than 10,000 people from 10 different countries to see what they thought about it. Their results showed that about 55% of people agree with stopping refugees coming to the country. 25% didn't have a preference. And only 20% disagreed. The results could also be reflective of President Trump banning all Muslim people from entering the country.
With hundreds of thousands of people staying in their country, people want to know what Europeans think of all this change going on in their country. According to a new study conducted by Chatham House, which is a London based foreign affairs paper, said that in a study of 10,000 people in 10 different European countries 55% said that they support the idea of stopping the migration of people especially from Muslim majority countries.
Turkey has been a leader in taking in refugees. Turkey has taken in around 2.5 million refugees and with that has had to find ways to house them. Because of the abundance of people, the camp conditions have not exactly been ideal. Many people are cramped in small spaces just in order to be sheltered from the outside weather .This has lead to very unsanitary conditions. Also, some camps are so bad that people have actually left them and instead live on the streets. For the children in the camp, only about 20% attend some form of school
Many Syrian refugees made the journey to Europe and ended up in Turkey. They have been staying in refugee camps and the conditions aren´t exactly ideal. Turkey has spend extensive amounts of money and resources on the camps and helping the refugees out, but the number of refugees is simply too much to handle. People are supplied with food and shelter, but not a whole lot else. The camps themselves are not the best places to live, but Turkey has done enough to keep the refugees safe and has provided them with a better life than they had in the worn torn countries they fled.
The Middle East is a complete mess. Throughout multiple countries, multiple conflicts have been causing problems and leading to people fleeing. In Syria, a violent civil war has killed an estimated 200,000 people. In Israel, conflict between people has led to multiple terror attacks and conflict in general. In Iraq, terror groups have taken over and are putting peoples lives in constant danger. In Yemen, the government is in pieces and the per capita GDP is about $1,500. Iran and Saudi Arabia don´t have too many people fleeing the country. The majority are coming from war torn countries such as Syria with 3 million refugees and 6.5 million displaced within the country.
The Middle East has a lot of conflict going on currently. There are political problems going on, such as Israel and Palestine fighting over land. Economic problems such as oil in general being a problem. And last war and persecution forcing people to fear living in their home country and causing them to leave. A more specific, well known example of this is the terror that is forcing people to leave is the radical Islam group know as ISIS. They have forced people out of their homes, killed innocent people simply due to religion, and have tortured people just because they believe in something that ISIS does not. All this violence and fear is the reason people are leaving and therefore Europe has such a large number of refugees.
