Desmond Doss is my hero because of his actions. During World War II Doss has decided to be a medic for the army forces. He wanted to save lives from violence. When his squad was assigned to a island called Okinawa they were always being pushed back and defeated by the Japanese. But he made a courageous choice to start back because of all the men still at the battle field despite that he had also been injured. Claim: Desmond Doss is my hero because he is very valor. Desmond Doss was given the medal honor for determination and bravery on being a solider and saving lives. When he was training in the army his squad despised him because wouldn't carry a gun they thought he was useless and would try many things to kick him out. But he still stood strong and was able to be in combat. The amazing thing is his comrades who in battle that mistreated him were injured, but he didn't care if what they did in the past. He had a heart that helped save his comrades even though they were mean and that is very special quality for some people to do. Forgiveness and bravery.
Desmond Doss became a famous hero after the World War II. He has been filmed in many documentaries and was interviewed about what happened during he battle on Okinawa. Newscasters and reporters were told that he had saved 75 injured comrades by himself. He even saved people when, himself was injured 3 times. He was also smart about carrying the soldiers down to safety especially when there on a cliff.
Desmond Doss was an ordinary person from an ordinary town who became a hero and even visited the White House and got the Medal of Honor when he was in World War II. He was one of the people who were the unlikeliest hero but he did turned out to be a hero. His comrades thought he was unfit for the army and wouldn't make it out alive when he was in battle just because he didn't want to carry a gun. But the reason is because he true to himself and made a promise to save a live and not take one. And did made that promise saving 75 people by himself without any weapon but a switch blade.
The reason why Desmond Doss kept saving lives was because he was Christian so he would ask for one more person he could and turned out he saved 75 people during a brutal battle that killed a lot of people. He stayed strong and never let himself down to reach his gal to save many lives.
Desmond Doss sadly died in 2006. He had a disease that made him difficult to breath. But even though he died his history will always be remembered of his bravery and boldness to put himself out their first for his injured comrades during a very bloody and serious battle on Okinawa. People will remember one example of valor and to make a difference in different ways to save lives.
