The Kea Parrot is going extinct and a lot of people are purposely killing the parrot and thwarting conservation efforts. This conflict must be resolved now because there are less than 5,000 left in the world. If the public continues to purposely kill these birds they will go extinct. These birds only live in Southern mountains of New Zealand so the public that lives there needs to change their mindset about these birds, most of the public find them as pests because they are so curious. Since the public kills off these birds regularly they aren't ready to work together and conserve this species. The public needs to let go of the idea that the birds are pests, these birds are very friendly and many people like them. Some action needs to be taken because they are documenting who is killing these birds and people need to come forward and take responsibility so that it doesn't continue to happen. The public needs to communicate the way they feel about these birds so that they can overcome the bad things about them and save the species. Once everyone overcomes their problems with these birds they can help preserve the species. They can do this by cleaning up all of the old buildings that are poisoning the birds and help protect their nests from ground predators.
