Sec 2 History Chapter 6 slides. Slide no.32. The source talks about why the japanese saw the chinese as a threat.japan invaded china in 1937 and the chinese resisted the invasion. The chinese also contributed to many of the anti-japanese war funds for china which shows that the chinese strongly disliked the japanese for what they do. Thus this shows that the chinese had a bad relationship with the japanese.
Force 136 in Malaya was part of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE), a secret service organisation active during World War II. They were searching for chinese recruits for commando teams as the chinese could blend in with the population unlike caucasians. They could not find anyone until Lim Bo Seng joined their unit, who helped to find more recruits in china. I selected this source as it shows that there was a sense of suspicion and they had to recruit chinese to blend it. The source also tells me that the chinese' relationship with the japanese was bad and they were enemies.
The Malayan People’s Anti-Japanese Army (MPAJA) was a group of resistance fighters in Malaya, organised by the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) to fight against the Japanese in Japanese-occupied Malaya. There were also chinese communists who wanted to regain freedom from the japanese and they hid in jungles. Some europeans were also found with the chinese. I selected this source as it clearly tells us that the different races and the japanese disliked one another greatly and wanted to get rid of one another.
