What is black girl magic related to self love just for the simple fact that it was all compliments and uplifting words just based on black women. It was letting you black girls know things that make them feel better about themselves. “ the first thing I envisioned was women who are black women specifically just making a way out of no way like coming into they own being self centered, ceficainat, extraordinary self just being amazing under all circumstances”. This showing love because it’s giving blacks clear and good reasons why they should just love themselves and that they came a long way from what they have done that it should be no reason why you shouldn’t love themselves.
From what I have read so far in the book the young girl that goes by the name of Jade goes to " St. Francis High School " which is at the end of her town, she would rather prefer her neighborhood high school but her mom find St a good opportunity for her. " I don't think I'll ever get used to being at St. Francis while the rest of my friends are at Northside". This was Jade saying she didn't want to go to the high school but it will just have to happen. After I kept reading on Jade starts talking about her routine in the morning and how she has nothing in fridge then she begin to explain her neighborhood once again and what time it was built around and just how her mom always told her to describe it or talk about it. Jade was involved in plenty of things in her school like the study of abroad program she was even chosen to pick out the food for all the trips " " " Jade what do you want?" " to eat to travel with the study of abroad program". This showing the type of student Jade is and how works well with what is does. Yet she is still a little shy to ask any follow up questions.
This music video is about self love and how you don't need no man to make you feel better about yourself your perfect just the way you are. It stated " If he don't love you anymore,Just walk your fine ass out the door" meaning if he doesn't want you you just keep it moving he's not that important. Another example I have to use is " And do your hair toss, Check my nails, Baby how you feelin'? Feeling good as hell". That's another example for me because in the video when Lizzo said that as her course it was her saying how girls should feel about themselves when the look at themselves or see themselves.
This poem is about how this character finds shea butter her problem solver her solution to everything. Especially with her hair " Every single day. & night too. Before bed I sit up tired, ready to go wherever it is we go when we close our eyes. But first you save me. I use you to mold my kinks into twists, into black knuckles". As stated in the poem.
This article Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie a women from Nigeria who comes to America Ngozi describes her hair and what was going on throughout her life with her boyfriend Obinze. Through out the novel she was a very insecure person especially when it came to her hair and her boyfriend didn't make it any better it says Wambui was so sure, convincing Ifemelu found a pair of scissors. " Wambui cut her hair leaving only two inches" after that Ngozi " I look so ugly I'm scared of myself" she was making herself look good for someone else. Ngozi hated her hair after the big chop she did. " I hate my hair I couldn't go to work today" she sent through a text.
