From the blog there are different people who have been doing research concerning on effects or impacts of social media to young people especially teenagers. One of the researcher said that social media can be the right element in creating an environment where disordered thoughts and behaviours really thrive. Social media gives young people especially girls the feedback and validation they are craving for which acts as a catalyst for more insecurity in young men. Then there is a part which shows that how parents can help the young people’s body image issues. This is where one of the researchers says that she usually have a conversation with her daughter by asking different questions such as How do you feel when someone approvals your picture? Why does it feel important to stay connected to your friends online? How many times a day do you compare yourself to someone else? Have you ever felt worse about yourself after scrolling through a social media site? This empowered awareness can help inform a young’s person choice. From my view social media should be blamed since make teenagers be obsesse with matters which are very helpful in life
Television and magazines are blamed on the ideal of body image which causes people to question themselves based on looks and lose confidence in themselves. What about the impacts of social media on body image. From the newspaper there is an example of person, whom explains how social media affected her life in school. It seems when she in secondary, she used to have a facebook account whereby she was posting her pictures. As a result she was kind of getting negative feedback from her friends hence she started being conscious on tiny things such as the shape of her eyebrows and the size of her forehead. After her suffering she began to lose her confidence in doing different things Then from the statistics of the government many teenagers in the 2013, they were posting pictures I facebook. Then one of MPS’ started a campaign on changing body attitudes to body image and it was called Be Real: Body Confidence for Everyone. So she visited to many schools so as to talk to 12 – 13 year olds on how easily image in media can altered, improve and enhance to create something far from the reality. Then she tells them, some images in the media are being altered by smartphones which have filters and a range of effects. Finally she tells them that social media brings a huge effect on young people’s body confidence and since it cannot be ignored. Then there was a senior researcher whereby he said that the more time is spent on social media, the more people are objectify themselves. She explains that there is a negative social interaction in these forums, and to ask people to comment on how you look, hence leads to body image anxieties. The answer to the body anxiety is to showcase a more diverse range of bodies in the media because there is no way to be healthy or one ideal look. From my view social media is to blamed since it makes people to lose confidence and being conscious on tiny things.
In this video we see that the girl goes to the media and she sees different type of outfits. Then she goes to try to get one of her best outfits for herself as a results she spent a lot of time trying to find a good looking outfit which makes her to look perfect. Finally she got something which I think she didn’t like it very well but it was what she had in her closet. So we see that social media brings a lot negative impacts on their body image. From my view, there is wastage of time by people in finding ways of changing there body image instead of people using there time well in doing things which are productive in life.
From the page we see pictures of people doing different body exercise. Social media can bring a very big impact on body image since many people think of having chiseled abs, muscular arm and also six packs modern things. For women they diet themselves and also do exercise so as to become thin. In order to have an ideal body image you to stop taking certain type of food and since social media is not easy to escape, they also provide information on how to become like them. This leads to problems like menoroxia in men and aneroxia in women. Lastly social media is making people to lose confidence. This occurs to the people who are fat. These people will feel like, they are abandon by the society.
