There are four different types of solar eclipses. solar, hybrid, partial, annular. Partial is part of the sun is showing, total is the whole sun is covered, annular is when the moon appears smaller than the sun, and hybrid is almost covers the whole sun.
An eclipse is when the moon passes in front of the sun. The moon moves in between the earth and sun. A total eclipse is only seen from small parts of the world. A partial is when the sun, moon, and earth are not lined up.
Some cultures believe animals ate or covered the sun. Some believe that frogs ate the sun others believe wolves ate it. People made noise to "scare" away the darkness. Some people thought the "gods" were mad at them.
