What to expect from the Solar Eclipse!

What to expect from the Solar Eclipse!

For the first time since 1918, an eclipse will travel across the entire United States. Here’s a map of the eclipse’s path, how to view it and why it matters so much to scientists. The Eclipse starts 10 a.m. local time in Oregon and ends just before 3 p.m. in South Carolina. It shows a moving picture, which states where the moon will be over the state and what time you will be able to see its totality. It is very helpful it even states where it will be 75% of its totality. This Total Solar Eclipse is one of the best ones for scientist to observe and reach with advanced equipment. So this years eclipses should help science advance!

Animals gone savage?

Animals gone savage?

Most of us will be looking up at the eclipse on August 21, you may also want to listen close, because something unusual could be happening with the animals on our planet. It has been rumored that animals behaviors change and strange things happen instead of them carrying on with their normal day. Zoos are encouraging people to come and observe animals in the zoo, they have big plans to observe and record what will happen. Scientists have been watching animal behavior during eclipses for centuries, and have record a few encounters.here are a few different observations that have happened. In the 1500's, an astronomer said that birds fell out of trees and stopped singing. A Scientist noted that ants that were "busily carrying their burdens, stopped and remained motionless till the light reappeared." They have also observed that the hippos partially hidden underwater; captive squirrels got agitated and freaked out; bees stopped buzzing around; butterflies disappeared; painted turtles looked for shelter; chickens huddled together and stayed close by one another. So maybe pay close attention to your animals and observe what may happen.
