The photo aboove, caught by two differnent people in two different locations, shows a hybrid eclipse. A hybrid eclipse shifts between a total and an annuluar eclipse. At some points along the hybrid eclipse's path it could look total or could look annular.
Both types of eclipses have astonished many scientists for more than 5,000 years ago. I found this link interesting because it shows the discoveries of past scientists made. It how they effected the familiarity we have with eclipses and the knowledge we have about eclipses and the solar system.
This website gives a perfect description about how and why eclipses happen. It really helps the reader feel informed about the solar eclipse and why people are going crazy about Monday's eclipse. It makes the whole eclipse seem as though not as much of a mystery some might think it is.
Although many superstitions are proven to be false, I found these old wives tales to be quite humorous.
