Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system. Though this is the closest planet to the sun, it is not the hottest of the 9 planets! Mercury is only about the size of our moon and has no atmosphere since it is so close to the sun.
This is such a cool looking planet! It looks blue because of the methane that absorb red light on the planet. Like other gas planets, Neptune has high winds and a storm called the "Great Dark Spot". Uranus is unique because its magnetic field is different from the other planets and makes it look like its sideways.
The USA has invested a lot of time to exploring Mars and trying to understand it. Mars cannot sustain life even though it is a rocky planet like Earth. If you look up in the sky and see a red planet, it is Mars. Mars is red because of iron minerals rusting on the soil.
