"Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11:1. This means that faith is believing in something even if you don't have concrete evidence or if you haven't encountered something before.
"He said to them, "Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20. To us, this means that with faith in God, you can achieve anything you set out to do. No matter what trials you face, you will come through!
St. Monica shows through the way that she lived that she is a role model of faith. During her life she had many challenges yet still held on to her faith in God through it all. For example, when she was very young she was married off to the Roman pagan Patricius who had a very violent temper and disagreed with her beliefs. She prayed to God about her husband and he converted a year before his death. Also, when her son turned away from Christian beliefs she did send him away from her table, but in a dream she was told to reconcile with him to bring him back to the faith. Through all of this she stayed true to God. I think that she has followed one Bible quote exceptionally well: "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen," Hebrews 11:1. We can learn from her to always believe in God's plan for us and those we love. We should always forgive others no matter what the offence.
