Dance Theater Club holds a show towards the end of every year. Being a freshmen and a new member to the club, I was only allowed to do one dance so therefore I performed with my brother since he is a senior and he won't be apart of the show next year. We had a lot of fun creating the dance together even though some days we were up till late. The overall experience of the dance was a lot of fun. This is only year 1 and I can't wait for the show next year when I will be able to do multiple dances with my friends. I had a great time throughout the process leading up to night of the show including the auditions, practices, and rehearsals. even though at times it was stressful. Many of my family and friends came to watch and support me and I had suchhh a great time. I hope the years to come are just as successful!!
India is the place that no matter what, I will always be ready to go and visit. I have so much fun whenever I go! Attached is a map of Gujarat which i sin India and on the map of Gujarat is Vadodara, the place that I live. India is so special to me, because I have so much family there. i have been there many times and each time is better than the last. My cousins in India are moving to New York with their family this summer and I am so ecstatic! However, now that they are coming here I have lost a lot of my motivation to go visit. But, even though I probably won't go as frequently, now we will all go back together making it double the fun. India is the most fun place I have been to especially because I am familiar with the area and that makes shopping and eating different foods so much easier. Usually when I go to India, I make a list of the places I want to go and the places I want to eat when I am there. There is no amount of happiness and joy I can compare to that amount of joy I get when I go to India!!
Battle was so much fun this year and I miss it so much already. I can't wait for it next year. However, at battle this year battle was a little more special because my brother was a senior and I liked the senior grade overall. The seniors were all so nice and supporting during the events and also helped us out whenever we needed it. All the events leading up to battle were so much fun as well. Battle week and dressing up was so much fun and well planned out. For me the highlight was the battle dance. Me and the two other choreographers spent mornings and after school time working on the dance and teaching it to everyone. It was an amazing experience and the dance was loved by everyone, a lot more than we had expected. I really hope to choreograph the dance next year as well and hope it is just as good. Battle as a freshmen was full of so many great memories and going to get pizza right after with friends was all so great. Cannot wait for the years to come : )
To me DECA meets inspiration. I love this club more than anything and it has brought my high school experience to a whole different level. My brother has done it all his years in high school and I want to do the same and make him proud. I love all aspects of the club including the competitive events as well as the fun aspects like the DECA dance. The club means so much to me and I would like to improve upon my skills of public speaking and having confidence in my words. DECA as not only made a me a batterie person but has placed me on the path of business that I absolutely love!
Matt Steffanina is an absolutely amazing dancer and after watching his dance videos for years, it was a great experience being able to meet him. He is a phenomenal dancer and the amount of energy he puts into each dance move is incredible and it inspires me to do the same. Energy brings dance to a whole new level and one day I want my dancing to be seen the same way. Along with him, my brother is also such an inspiration and they are the reasons I constantly want to improv my dancing. This specific attached video is the one that inspired my performance at the DTC this year!
I have been going to garba every year of my life and it is something so close to my heart and my culture. Garba is a very famous type of dance from my homeland, India and it is done mainly during a festival called Navratari. I love dancing and especially to do garba. During this time of year, usually mid October me and all my friends get dressed up and go to the Garba that is held at the Herricks High School. Garba and Navaratri is highly celebrated around the world especially in India. It is a time of year that I am always looking forward to and I cannot wait for it to come this year. It is a time full of fun, dancing, and socializing through Indian culture. I have always been connected to my culture and love for my heritage has opened me up to trying so many new things. Garba is just one of the events I take part in each year to represent my pride as an Indian.
Being apart of student government as a freshman was such an amazing experience. Homecoming and Semi Formal were some of the very first events that I had helped to create a success this year. They both were so much fun and being apart of student government showed me how much effort is placed behind holding an event. Linked to this is a picture of the homecoming King and Queen. I cannot think of anyone better to deserve this award! Sam and Ashwin are extremely sweet and helpful people I have met this year. They add so much to Student Government and will surely be missed by many including myself. I truly love student government so much and I really hope to make board again next year. It has been such a wonderful experience getting to know so many more people as well as having a say in the school community!
