I love to fish with my Pop-pop at the beach. Every year, my Mom, Pop-pop , and I go on a fishing trip. Next year, we are supposed to go to the canyons and fish. The canyons are a great fishing spot in the ocean. It takes 2 hours to get there by boat. I have gone fishing with my Pop-pop for many years. I think the best part about fishing is getting to eat the fish you caught.
My Mom works for a company that helps homeless veterans and people with disabilities. Sometimes, I like to volunteer at these events that help these people. These people are very kind and I like to know that we are helping them have better lives. I also volunteer at church with my Grandmother. I help her work funerals, bingo, and other events. In a couple of years, I plan to volunteer at the ASPCA and help with the animals.
In the winter, my Dad and I go snowboarding at Blue Mountain. I learned snowboarding just last year. When I started, I didn't like it, now, I love it. I started late last winter, I was only able to do the easy slopes. By the end of the season, I was able to do almost all of the black diamonds. Snowboarding is another way to bond with my Dad.
My Stepmom's family lives in Coronado California. Her dad taught me how to surf when I was 9 years old. Surfing is such a fun thing to do, even if I have to wake up at 5 am. When I was little, I always wanted to learn how to surf. I feel that surfing helps me snowboard and ride a long board. I surf about 2 to 3 foot waves. They don't sound big, but in the water they appear massive. When I'm older, I want to move to a beach so I can surf.
One thing that is really important to me is spending time with my family. My family has always wanted the best for me in life. They want me to be better than they were in school, and be good in sports. My Mom and I like to take walks and go to the beach. My Dad and my Stepmom like to go snowboarding together. It makes me feel great to know that I have a family that cares about me as much as I care about them.
When I was little, I would see my Grandmother baking in the kitchen. I always wanted to bake with her when I got older. Now, I help my her bake for church events. Baking is not only fun, but it is a way to spend time with my Grandmother. I also like to bake on my own to show her that I can bake almost as well as her.
Ever since I was little, I always was fascinated by the weather. Whenever a snowstorm is coming to the Allentown area, The Weather Channel is always on in my house. If a hurricane is about to make landfall, you bet the Weather Channel will be on the TV. When I was 7 years old, my Mom took me down to the beach on a vacation. We ended up having to stay in a hotel room 10 miles off of the shore because of Hurricane Irene. That was a very cool experience for me. Now, whenever a hurricane comes up the east coast, I always go to the beach to watch the storms. Some day, I plan to become a Meteorologist and report in a massive snow storm, hurricane, tropical storm.
Dogs are one of my favorite animals. I have two dogs named Lola and Maggie. Lola is an 8 year old Boston Terrier (the dog shown above). Maggie is a 4 year old French Mastiff. My dogs make me feel happy whenever I walk in the door. I don't know what I would do without a dog in my life.
My family and I like to travel. I have been to Grand Cayman (the picture above), the Dominican Republic, Cancun Mexico, Puerto Morelos Mexico, California, Florida and North Carolina. I like to traveling because you can see different things, eat different foods, and experience a new culture. My family plans on traveling to new places in the future.
One of my favorite things to do is softball. I play for the Northern Valley Cyclones, a tournament softball organization based out of the Lehigh Valley. I have been playing tournament softball since i was in 3rd grade. In the Spring, I attend softball tournaments almost every weekend. For the past 3 years, my team has attended the USSSA National Championships in Maryland and Connecticut. This year, my team came in 5th place out of 108 14 and under teams. We are now ranked 2nd in Pennsylvania.
