Technology should not be taking over your life. Technology creates addictions like the publisher of the youtube video shows. The publisher explains that it is normal for addicitions to happen but any human should be able to control it. If controlled, then the use of technology should be more limited. People can still use their phones and social medias but time should be limited to less time. ***thamagicsho2003. “Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?” YouTube, YouTube, 29 Sept. 2014, www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRl8EIhrQjQ
In this article, the author give ten reasons why technology impacts humans in a negative way. The one that is most important for me is that it lessens the social interaction between people. Someone can lose friends because of a mistake that happen in social media. The author states "Sure social media pages can take the place of human connection but it can’t hug, kiss, or love you. It's a virtual world, and it's not real. You know it's not real, but you crave it.". A person cannot create love through a social media app. Back in the days, to meet someone, they would do it on person but now everything is through technology.***Brite, Cheryl. “10 Reasons Why Technology Is Ruining Our Lives.” LifeStylePassion, 20 Apr. 2016, www.lifestylepassion.com/4-1/10-reasons-why-technology-is-ruining-our-lives/.
Philip Zimbardo, the author, who became a household name after conducting the Stanford prison experiments, argues that our online culture is disproportionately harming boys. Technology, especially for boys changes the way they think now. He believes technology still affects society but mostly in boys more than girls. The use of social media/technology should be limited so that real social interactions happens more oftens.***Jones, Orion. “Stanford Psychologist: Technology Is Ruining a Generation of Men.” Big Think, Big Think, 11 May 2015, bigthink.com/ideafeed/stanford-psychologist-technology-is-ruining-a-generation-of-men
Many teenagers have fallen in the hole that would be impossible to get out of because of technological advancements. The author, Stephanie Newman states how technology was not a thing when she was young and how less problems were created because of technology and how now everything has changed. In the article, the author states "Smart phones and Blackberries rip into relationships and thwart leisure pursuits. And work/life balance seems to be a thing of the past. Families are feeling it, too. Ask any parent. Many teens seem to have fallen into a tech sinkhole. And their constant texting and abuse of social media may even be holding them back from attaining social and developmental milestones." Life for humans have changed drastically. Social interaction is limited in between families and friends. Instead all we care about is our phones. ***Newman, Stephanie. “Is Technology Ruining Our Lives?” Psychology Today, Sussex Publishers, www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/apologies-freud/201304/is-technology-ruining-our-lives.
In this article, the author states facts about how much time we spend in technology, especially social media and explains the time we are on it is an extreme amount of time. The author says "As a nation, we spent 230,060 years on social media in July 2012 alone, which averaged to about 6 and a half hours a month per person". He also explains that social media limits our social interactions. "Some insist iPhones and Facebook are driving us farther apart, that the Internet has ruined social interaction and nothing is what it used to be". Technology will keep ruining our society we live in if we do not limit our time we spend in the social medias. I understand that some time in necessary for human benefit but time should be limited.*** "Editorial / A fine line: Is social media too prevalent in the classroom?" UWIRE Text, 2 Sept. 2013, p. 1. In this article, the author presents that technology impacts today's society in a negative way in different ways compared to the past. The author states "I walk around campus in between classes and all I see is students texting while walking" and "For instance, texting allows two or more people to constantly be in contact, regardless of where you are in the world". In this quotes, he believes that as time goes on, more people will use technology and will impact people in many ways. In the past, you used to meet a person in person but social media has taken over many peoples lives so now we used our phones to do that. Everything is done by technology now a days.
