The gun ownership percentage has dropped 10 percent since 1993, which was the peak of gun ownership in the U.S. But, gun sales have been booming. But why? Gun sales have been booming because people that already own guns are buying more, rather than a person who has never bought a gun get one. A study done in 2004 showed that an average gun owner owned around 6 guns. And the top three percent of gun owners owned 25 guns or more.
Nick Wing is very disappointed in the government because they haven't put into place and gun control laws since the shooting in Newtown. Ever since the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, many people are supporting gun control laws. But, since 2012, no gun control laws have been passed. But, states have passed their own legislations. New York and Connecticut have passed a law that doesn't allow people to own semi-automatic weapons and large-capacity magazines. Activist groups have formed to do the government's job and to watch gun sales and registrations.
