When blacks first came to Harlem during the Great Migration, they brought along with them their traditional music. Many people had enjoy their music because it brought them entertainment while exposing the unfair treatment that blacks were going through.
Many artist during the Harlem Renaissance chose to create art depicting life of Black Americans. There was many realistic illustrations of African American culture, what it was like to be a Black American, slavery, and racism. They went against the traditional style of art and decided to put the spotlight onto the sad reality.
Literature was another way that African American used to express themselves. African American writers were creating works that would encourage other African American to fight for their racial equality.
Black culture is what it is today because of the Harlem Renaissance. It gave blacks freedom and boosted their self esteem. It allowed them to come together and celebrate the life that they have.
The Harlem Renaissance gave Black American a sense of pride and encouraged them to stand up for themselves and fight for civil rights. With the encouragement from other people, they were not afraid to stand up for themselves
