In 1973 the arcade made 1,095, Atari began to sell the first real electronic video game pong, and arcade machines were pooping up everywhere in bar bowling alleys and shopping malls around the world.
Multiplayer gaming During the late 1970s a number of chain restaurants started to install video games to capitalized on the hot new craze. The nature of multiplayer sparked competition among players. They could record their high scores with initials and were determined to mark their space at the top of the list. But for now multiplayer was limited to players competing on the same screen. The first example of player competing on separate screens came in 1973 a game called empire a strategic turn-based game for up to 8 players. Then in 1973 also came spasim for Plato a 32 player space shooter which was the first example of a 3D multiplayer game.
Home gaming In addition to gaming consoles becoming popular in commercial centers and chain restaurants in the us, the early 970s also saw the advent of personal computers and mass produced gaming consoles became a reality.
