American Sniper tells a story about Chris Kyle who was a Navy Seal and is America’s best sniper with the most kills. The movie shows what it is like to be a sniper in war and the pain and struggles that come with it during and after war. I really enjoyed this movie, not just because it was well made, but also because it shows what happens during wars and how much carnage, pain, and suffering it causes. I didn’t fully understand what war is like before this movie, but afterwards my understanding is so much better.
This speech talks about why Bush feels as though why it is necessary for the US the intervene in Iraq. He explains that their use of weapons of mass destruction on their own people and others, and their eventual gain of the nuclear bomb makes it necessary that the US intervene as soon as possible. This speech showed me that the US did feel it was necessary to intervene in Iraq for the sake of many nations, not only the US and Iraq.
This cartoon shows a family next to a grave of the Iraq war casualties, while the rich businessman said he sacrificed a lot too because he donated money. I think this cartoon reflects how high up people in our society don’t realize the sacrifice people make especially during wartime.
This photo shows a man finding the remains of someone in his family after a recent attack in iraq. It shows all the pain that goes along with loss, especially a loss so sudden as in a time of war. This photo really speaks to me as he is showing true pain because of his loss and it seems as his life is over now because of the war. It shows what war does to people and how it affects everyone involved.
The author gives his opinion on the reasons why the Iraq war was a terrible mistake. He is fairly unbiased in his analysis and he even describe that during the war he was all for it. He says how the war just gave us increased tension in the coming years with all the middle east, and how we really gained nothing but the toppling of Saddam Hussein’s regime which he agreed was a good thing. This article gave me a lot of insight about how the war affected things. I always knew about the Iraq War, but I never knew what consequences it had and how it is still affecting the world today.
This article writes about the very start of the war, when the US received intel where either Saddam Hussein or some of his top officials were hiding. The US decides to absolutely demolish this area where they are hiding at and theorizes who exactly was there. This source informs me that the US was grasping at straws to try to find Hussein. The information they received was not certain Hussein would be there, but they wanted to use every chance they had.
