Lions have many different and fun personalities which include confidence. Lions are very confident and have very good leadership qualities, lions can be a little arrogant when leading their pride. In leadership the lion surrounds it self with animals lower then its food chain to offer protection. Since the lion is the largest member of the cat family it must get the most honorable respect where ever it may be. Lions can also be progressive, predictable, and dependable which is probably why they have such a bad attitude towards other lions.
The African lion faces the threat of extinction by the year 2050. The African lion population has lowered by fifty percent since the past three decades. The number of African lions is estimated to be 24,000 and the West African lion is said to be completely wiped out. Habitat loss, loss of prey and human- lion conflict have been examples to why the lions are going extinct. Many people have put out petitions to help save these lovely and angelic animals.
Sub-Saharan Africa is located South of the Sahara desert and carries a lot of wild species. The large mammals include the rhinoceros, hippopotamus, wildebeest and oryx. Predatory mammals include lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs. The lions main hunts are antelopes, buffaloes, zebras, young elephants, and rhinos. The climate is very warm and the temperature can get up to 100 degrees . The majority of african lions are located in the sub- saharan region.
Lions live in prides, younger male lions leave the pride and have to fend for themselves. Mostly male lions lead the pride, also only male lions can get manes. Female lions are the prides primary hunters while the male defends for the pride. Most african lions live in the south of the sub- saharan. Male lions can weigh up to 265-450 lbs while female lions weigh up to 280lbs.
