In the song it says " you only need the light when it's burning low" means that you have so much light that you don't even notice it, but the only time you really need it is gone. Other lines from the song shows meaning " never to touch and never to keep" and " everything you touch surely dies" is saying to never have something for granted and that if you have something you need to make the most out of it. 2. 1. The Indestructible Jacklyn H. Lucas is known for his bravery. Jack shows otherness from his act of bravery. Jack joined the Military in WWII as a young soldier at the age of 17. On one of Jacks expeditions, him and his comrades was heading to a Japanese airstrip. The article says " Taking cover in a trench under heavy fire, Jack realized they were only feet away from enemy soldiers in a neighboring trench. He managed to shoot two of the soldiers before two live grenades landed in his trench". Jack and his comrades were in a trench under fire when a live grenade was thrown in. the article describes " Thinking quickly, Jack threw himself on the first grenade, shoving it into volcanic ash and used his body and rifle to shield the others with him from the pending blast" Jack pounced on the grenade and put it in volcanic ash beneath him Jack risking his life for a good cause. Instantly, another grenade was lobbed into the trench, Jack grabbed it and put it underneath him again and looked away from his comrades so none of them would take the blast. Jack took the blast of two grenades and was so injured people thought he would die. Jack ended up living and being awarded the metal of honor cause of his heroic actions. This shows the otherness because the youngest in the group turns out to be the most honored. 2. Jack's actions connect to the actions of Atticus in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. Jack's bravery is similar to the bravery by Atticus, through the bravery of shooting a rabid dog. Also another act of bravery is standing up for Tom Robinson, a black citizen, even though he will be ridiculed because his is standing up for a black citizen.

Girls in Pakistan have little rights and most can't even leave their house, but Malala is distinct from most. The biography states "On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived and has continued to speak out on the importance of education". This shows the otherness in Malala, she supports and demands girls education, the Taliban try to diminish Malala, but she overcomes adversary and comes back more determined. Malala found many ways to share her thoughts about the girls education and rights. One of the ways is the book she wrote, "I Am Malala". The article says "In October 2014, at age 17 Malala Yousafzai became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize". Malala went from a girl thinking of the thought that girls need education to a girl making a movement for girls education. After Malala's book won the Nobel Peace Prize Award she started fighting for other girls with little education and rights around the world. 2. Malala's actions associate with Jem's actions in the novel " To Kill A Mockingbird". Malala shows her bravery by standing up to the Taliban and Jem shows his bravery by touching the Radleys house. Malala also relates to Atticus through bravery. Atticus shows bravery through shooting a rabid dog.
