There are 5 steps, ask a question, form a hypothesis, test your hypothesis/do the experiment, collect the data and finally draw conclusions. I remember this by common sense and in school I ask questions before I start and then think about the answer(hypothesis). Then I do the work and check my answers and see if my question was worth asking.
Independent variables are the factors that scientists change on purpose. Dependent variables are the factors that changes as a result and is often measured.Control variables are the factor that are kept the same on purpose. When I think of variables, I use parts of the words for their meanings.
Qualitative observations are observations that you use your senses. While quantitative observations are observations that can be measured. When I thought of these I would remember that quan was short for quantity which is an amout and quantitative observations can be measured.
An observation is something that you notice with your five senses. An inference is a guess that you think based on your observation and what you already know.I remember these by thinking that you need your observation to find out an inference so you use your senses before inferring what happened.
