This article tells how many civilians in iraq have been killed due to military strikes. If someone asked about this article I would tell them that this article is about how many civilians have been killed in iraq and why they have been killed. I feel this is a useful source to help people see the high number of casualties that occur in this war even if they are part of the taliban or just civilians to iraq and if they are apart of the US. This source compares with the song in one of my sources because they both explain casualties that are caused by this long lasting war. The goal for this source is to inform citizens of the US about the effects this war is having on these two countries.
A reader writes, “I still do not know what we’re fighting for.”
In this opinion letter to New York Times this person is asking why we are even at war with iraq and she explains her opinion on what she thinks and how she feels that it's pretty pointless to be fighting in iraq because she feels there are no weapons of mass destruction. If someone asked me about this article I would tell them what this person is trying to say and her opinions on the war today. This source was helpful for the project even though I completely disagree with this person. This opinion shows me how people dont get why we are actually at war and why we have the freedom we have they just take advantage of it. This source does not make me change my perspective on the topic I chose.
In this picture the journalist is showing a man from Iraq on a United States Humvee that is burned to the ground and they explain how he gets on top and starts to scream “Allahu Akbar” over and over again. This is a useful source because it helps people understand how some people act there and why we are at war with them right now. I feel that this picture is a reliable source. This fits into my research because it shows the people looking at the picture what is happening in that war and how messed up some of the people of iraq are. This picture supports my perspective on iraq it doesn't change it at all.
In this movie the producer is showing how a group of Navy Seals go to execute a major target in Iraq. He shows how everything goes wrong due to some sheepherders and he tries to show how some people of iraq are evil but there are also some good people. If someone asked me about this movie I would explain that the movie is intense but also very informational and will give the person a different perspective on all people in iraq. This fits into my research by showing the conflicts in iraq and what is happening today. This source was very helpful and helped me understand more about the war in iraq. I can use this source because it will show others what conflicts are occuring involving the war in iraq. This movie has not changed my perspective on the war in iraq.
I spoke to God today, and she said that she's ashamed / What have I become, what have I done / I spoke to the devil today, and he swears he's not to blame /
In this song the writers are talking about the war in iraq and what the war is causing US soldiers. It describes the tragedies that are occuring in the war and what has happened.
This poem is explaining young men and women at the beginning of the iraq war coming home but not alive it talks about how they come back in flag covered caskets due to having to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our country. If someone asked me about this poem I would tell them how it explains the ultimate sacrifices our soldiers make for our freedom today and how yes they get to come home but it's not always breathing. This source was very helpful because it gave me a better understanding of today's war and the price our soldiers pay. It doesnt change my perspective it just helps me understand why I have the perspective I do on iraq.
