This is a difficult article to read on a Monday morning, however, it does highlight the importance for the need of a robust registration and absence procedure in schools. I would like all class and form teachers to ensure registrations are taken by 0845 at the absolute latest and remind everyone to forward any absence requests from parents to their relevant Head of School, copying in Davina Blair and Nicola Diggle. The families of children who we are unable to locate once the registers have closed, will receive phone calls and emails until we have discovered the whereabouts of the child.
Last week I was training new staff in our safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures and I thought it timely to send you the link to the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. All school staff are required to read and understand Part 1 of the guidance and our yearly safeguarding staff meetings are based on information in this document. I wrote a bulletin article last week regarding Early Help and will focus the next safeguarding email on that topic. Please read Part 1 if you haven't read it in a while and do let me know if you have any questions.
Tomorrow is Safer Internet Day and I thought I would share the commonsensemedia website with you all. I refer parents to this website regularly as it is a useful tool for adults to understand apps, games and ratings for movies and books. If you have not had a look at this website before, please do. The website summary states; 'Common Sense Media improves the lives of kids and families by providing independent reviews, age ratings, & other information about all types of media.'
